A boatman was rowing a boat to drop a passenger to other side of the river Bank.
There was a deep silence in the river with just the sounds of paddle's struggle through the water.
The boatman broke the silence with a conversation.
"May i know about you Sir and where are you going? "
"I am a trader going back home from far off land"
Boatman continued "So how's your trade going on. Are you going back home after a successful trade?"
The reply came back " I am not yer that successful. I had to go in between to my home town because of a festival. I got command to attend it compulsorily"
The boatman slowed the paddling speed and said "hmmm. So are you not happy in going home then "
Came the reply " Festival is vara maha lakshmi vratham and it seems that today Goddess Lakshmi comes home. So i have to be there to bless my wife. Am not sure when Goddess herself comes why I need to go? Moreover i had to leave my business in between which is itself Lakshmi right? "
The boatsman laughed and said " So looks like you are feeling as if you are compelled to drink water from a plastic bottle when you are in the boat crossing the Ganges."
The trader wasn't amused by the remark and his face frowned.
The boatman understood it and kept quiet.
Then started a period of very uneasy silence.
After a while
the boatman sang a song
" is the one who blesses is God
OR
the one who seeks blessings.
Is the one who seeks blessings the gifted.
OR
the one who imparts blessing to the one who seek it
is Lakshmi
the one in money
OR
the idol where she's expected to descend
OR
the one who earns and performs a pooja for the arrival of lakshmi.
OR
the pooja is performed by her only because she's Lakshmi herself .
Many rivers start from a mountain.
Many questions start from the mind...
Row yourself in silence to reach the truth ... "
After a while , the trader looks into eyes of boatman with folded hands.
Then again
there was a deep silence with
the boat reaching his destination ....
